Karen Monte

Karen is a singer/songwriter, arranger and producer, and has been singing her entire life. Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Karen grew up singing with her father, who was also an avid musician. When she was a young girl, Karen performed in musicals, at sporting events, charities, churches and weddings, enjoying many different styles of music. For the last 25 years she has been living in the San Francisco Bay Area.

In 2007, Karen released a smooth jazz studio album called 'Close Your Eyes,’ which was arranged by award-winning pianist and composer John Mackay. The album garnered outstanding reviews, along with radio airplay in over 32 countries, and "beautifully showcases her pure voice, laid-back phrasing, impeccable diction and innate feelings for melody and rhythm."

During that same year, Karen delved deeper into the electronica genre, which resonated deeply with her. She focused on composing and producing her own music for this market, while broadening her range as an artist.

“I couldn't believe how beautiful and ethereal some of the electronica was that I was hearing. That, in combination with heavy beats, moved me to my core. I wanted to create it. I felt like it was me.”

In 2011, Karen and several other electronic music producers formed a music collective called EPISODE. Their first single, ‘All I Need,’ was immediately picked up by Baroque, a major electronica label in the United Kingdom, and was signed to their Wild Records label. Karen continues to write and record ballads that can stand on their own and/or make for exquisite remixes for EPISODE.

Karen's crystal-clear pipes conjure up comparisons to some of electronic music’s most enduring voices: Sharon den Adel, Sharon Overton, and Sarah McLachlan to name a few.
